Emerging from early 2021 felt like an appropriate time to look ahead in a positive light, expressed through shapes & type.
Art direction showing restrictive games created for self-initiated brief 'Restriction'. These consisted of Balloon Boules, Egg Conkers & Pick-Up Rope.
Exhibition proposal imagery for ISTD Brief 'Eyewitness' - to create a typographical experience/installation from a published eyewitness statement. I chose Samuel Pepys' eyewitness account of The Great Fire of London and decided to focus on the impact of the delicate London remnants after the fire. Huge letter structures are made from a 1660 map of London (pre-fire), to demonstrate scale in the first room.
Samuel Pepys 'weeps for the loss of his city' in the account and the second room is a representation of the fragile and ruined city, after the fire. The exhibition is entirely interactive.
A fictional brief by @keep.it.brief on Instagram, asking for a poster for the Bouge Toi Dance Festival. This ended up being shared on their social and received high engagement!
Draft design for some album artwork - taking the shapes of buildings and bringing them into a colourful, graphic space.
Poster design, a response to leaving 2020 and entering 2021. It turned out lots aligned in this new year - being the year of the Ox, which symbolises strength, determination and resilience. Yellow is the Ox’s lucky colour - which corresponded with Pantone’s colour of the year too!
Typographic play.
I always loved letterpress. Having limited access to a press room more recently, I got to borrow some individual letter press blocks and do some DIY printing at home.
Series of graphic artwork inspired by Brighton and living by the sea.
